The Waiting Game

Posted on 14 June 2023

So the editors have the fourth draft of my YA novel. I turned it in on December 15. Edits were due to me end of February. They never came. The final manuscript was due to be copyedited on May 1. It is now June 14—and still no edits. I assumed this meant that my release date would be pushed back, but I got word today that they’re still planning to launch the book in Summer 2024. They are working on sketches for the cover and blurb copy. Apparently the new final manuscript date is at some point in July. I’ll repeat, it is now June 14. Lol.

There’s pressure to deliver the drafts quickly and in a timely fashion, and then you just have to wait for the next round of edits. I’ve had time to review the manuscript on my own but I am teetering between recovery and anxiousness to get working on the final draft.

I’m sure it will all work out. It’ll be another miracle where I look back and say, I can’t believe I did that!

Prayers up that I get the notes soon. And prayers also up that I am clear-minded and full of energy to tackle the work that needs to get done for the final draft!

Onward.
