I just posted on social media about my various pathways that I have been operating as separate entities. I explained that on a recent trip I was encouraged to bring my healing work to the forefront. Being alive is such an interesting journey. You may have heard the saying “we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” I feel like I’m not only beginning to understand the phrase, but I am also being pushed to LIVE the phrase.
As I said in my social media post, I’m always involved with healing work, but I do it for myself or within my community out of a personal passion. I’m deeply devoted to exploring the how of the human journey and the ways we can keep ourselves healthy and sane. Many of my writing workshops are more about healthy mindset than about writing itself. So what would it mean to move from sharing about the human act of writing to sharing about spirit and spiritual topics?
I don’t exactly know, but I am going to explore that question in the coming months.
Onward!

In addition to this healing journey, I’m keeping an eye on my writing projects. I think I’m going to start tracking them here as a way to look at the juggle of the writing life. So here’s a peek at what I have swirling.
IN THE MIX
• YA NOVEL: This book, entitled Tempest, has been through four drafts. I’m waiting on edits so that I can complete the final draft. It is slated to release in Summer 2024. (NOTE: When this manuscript is complete, I have to start book 2 in the series so there’s not too much delay between the books.)
• PICTURE BOOK: I’m five drafts into a picture book manuscript. The structure is basically set and now I need to work on characterization and plot arc. I work on this when I have the energy.
• MIDDLE GRADE: I currently have an outline for another YA novel with my agent. Knowing that I’m already under contract for Book 2 of the YA novel mentioned above, she’s suggesting that I work on a middle grade book instead. A shorter book that’s easier to write would be a better balance. I see the wisdom of that and am meditating on what I’d want to write.
• CREATIVE COLLABORATIONS: I’m exploring the idea of two creative collaborations with two writer friends. I always want to be able to play with art and writing, and I think collaborations are an opportunity to do that. We’ll see what evolves.
