And just like that, our anthology is complete! After a July 31 submission deadline, we have read, re-read, edited, re-edited, discussed, adjusted, and assessed, and now we have an anthology of poetry and fiction with one play and one nonfiction piece from 30 contributors and it feels great!

It took us four months to complete. My co-editor was a great partner and we shared the work smoothly and organically. We had time for our life obstacles, adjusting tasks and timelines to reflect real life.

As I noted before, it has been illuminating to edit an anthology while working on editorial edits for my novel. I think it has made me a better team player as a writer. It’s only recently that I realized that no one writes a book alone. Editors are essential partners and active participants in the process. A big part of my ability to move these books forward has been my willingness to rely on and trust my editors.

Anyway, I am so excited to see this anthology take shape and can’t wait to see its physical manifestation. This last push has definitely interrupted my writing schedule and set me back a few chapters. I will try my best to get back on track next week.

In the meantime, celebrate with me! THE ANTHOLOGY IS DONE!!!!!
