Interviews Galore

Posted on 15 January 2022

As we get closer to the book launch, I’m doing more of these author Q&As where I answer a bunch of questions about myself and my book. Beyond the questions about the book’s plot, how the book was developed and what’s next, the questions shift, each interview digging under the surface to look at a different part of the writing life.

It’s actually helped me reflect on all I’ve achieved and to appreciate the most recent changes in both my perspective and my achievements. I have strived and worked hard since I started writing, but the shift to completion has made a huge difference. I can remember myself writing into nothingness and nowhere. I had a wonderful spirit of adventure, but reaching a destination that way was almost impossible.

A whole new world of discovery has opened up as I have been thinking more functionally. Being interested in seeing where my gifts/skills will take me if I cede the leadership over to a more organized portion of my brain. It’s crazy that it took me this long to realize that this is basically what I do for a living. I create content. We take an idea and make a product with it. There is creativity within structure.

I’m now in the third draft of my YA novel and I’ve been thinking of it in puzzle terms, reaching to intuit which piece goes where, how to shift the plot so that the parts that are working click into place. It’s been a fantastic adventure. Finding the time to write has been as exhausting as ever, but seeing the power of intentionality at play as I move through the chapters is exhilarating.

I am wishing everyone the gift of intention in 2022. Of seeing the roadmap, or of having unwavering faith that you will reach your destination.

In the meantime, visit my media page to check out two recent Q&A posts. I just wrote the responses for two more this morning and I’m gearing up for the book launch events!

Life is rolling along!
